I have made an evaluation of task 1. This is to wrap up my thoughts about the trailers I have looked at. Above, I have looked at influence's from media (trailers and music videos) to look at what makes the videos effective and what I want to avoid when planning and making my trailer. When looking at different music videos and trailers i found that Mise en Scene played a vital role in the successfulness of the video and how the audience perceived certain things. I found that lighting in particular set the scene and low key lighting seemed to be used in lots of the trailers to make the audience feel scared and fearful.
Overall, i think that low key lighting and chiaroscuro lighting is essential in making a horror trailer and that the colours red and black are significant to this genre. I also found that particular costume could automatically paint the character as a victim or antagonist therefore, this is important and can give the audience cues of the characters. When making my first mood-board i wanted to show what we thought makes a horror movie scary and what we found effective when looking at horror movie trailers. The first thing we did was discuss this and we all found that we thought that masks were effective in creating the perfect villain character in the horror movie as you could not establish the characters identity making there true form hidden therefore, adding suspense to the film/trailer. Looking at the different masks online, i found that there are a wide variety of masks that i think have potential in making the perfect horror character who will be the main focus of the film and trailer. When looking at the different pictures i think that animals seemed to be a re-occuring theme as well as a mask with a set emotion on its face. For example, a smiling mask. I think that animal masks are effective in horrors as it makes animals more human-like which we consider as abnormal resulting in us feeling scared when we see the character. Also, i think that masks with a set emotion are effective when creating the perfect horror character as they seem fake due to them having a constant set emotion. This makes them seem emotionless as we cannot see their emotions change. Below is my annotation of my first MoodBoard: When thinking about what was a re-occurance in different horror movies and trailers, we found that the abandonment seemed to happen again after again. For example, an abandoned road, shed, house, person. I decided to take pictures from the internet of different locations that i think would be perfect of our horror movie trailer due to most of them following this theme of abandonment. We also found that being locked in and trapped seemed to happen a lot in horror movie's and this adds suspense as the audience are routing for the main character that they are following to get out and be free from the nightmare situation they have been put in. Having this character locked in makes it feel like their isn hope of them escaping and makes the audience feel tense and on the edge of their seat every time the character gets close to escaping. Below is my annotation of my second MoodBoard: Lastly, I again looked at what seemed to be a common thing in horrors. When looking i found that low key lighting and chiaroscuro lighting seemed to play an important role in horror movies as they create suspense due to they audience perhaps seeing things that the character cannot see or waiting on the edge of their seat for something to suddenly appear. Shadows can also be created by this use of lighting therefore, this again creates a eerie and tense feeling to the shot. I think we should use low key lighting and chiaroscuro lighting in our horror movie trailer to add suspense and to emphasise the fear that the character is feeling, therefore making the audience feel this fear themselves. Below is my annotation of my third MoodBoard:
1. Which of the four quadrant(s) would your film appeal to?

When thinking of how we could present our media skills in a new and inivitive way and portray our Actor/Actresses shots, I thought the sims style would fit perfectly to show the characters full body ( Height, hair colour, eye colour etc). As this is a well-known and popular game i think this is perfect as it will be interest our target audience. In our real actor/actress shots we will add text around the actors and actresses to give the viewers more information. By using this style that is used from the sims PC game, we will be able to show the characters whole body and well as being able to say why we have decided on using this actor/actress in the form of text.

Above, we see Daisy's room. We wanted Daisy's room to seem girly and a room you'd typically associate with a teenager so that we could see that Daisy was a 'normal' teenager.
Above, we see Daisy's house. This is an important part of our trailer as we are going to have daisy at the window and the two antagonist's watching her. Due to a home being considered as a safe place, we are disturbing this norm and making her home a place where she is constantly being watched. I think this will make the audience feel scared for Daisy and add a fear factor due this safety of the home being broken.
Above, you can see the streets where Daisy will be followed by the two Antagonists. These will be residential streets to make the audience feel like the Antagonists could be anyone and that Daisy may have a chance of getting away from them. These streets are like any streets which creates a realism to the audience and puts the idea of paranoia in the audience brain that it could happen to anyone.
Lastly, we can see the forest in the video above. This is an important location in our trailer as it is where our victim will encounter the antagonist and get kidnapped. We chose a forest as we believe they are typically thought of as a scary and isolated place. This makes the audience feel like the Victim had little chance of escaping from the Antagonists.Filming in the woods will make these scenes feel eerie and again give this sense of Daisy having no hope due to her being isolated and left alone with her two kidnappers.
Our two main actors (Alex Tatnell and Max Talliss) have dropped out therefore, we have had to find new actors at short notice. This meant that we had to be less choosy about what our characters looked like however, we have since discussed this and belive that due to our characters wearing masks throughout the duration of the trailer that this does not matter.
Our main character has also changed due to convenience and other circumstances. Rather than Imogen Eveson playing the Victim we have now decided that I will play our Victim character in our Trailer. It wasn't hard to find our character due to us being a girl group and in a girl school. We finally decided that the most convenient person to play the Victim character would be me as I am reliable and knowing what is expected of the character.
